I’ve been so busy with work, I’ve neglected my new blog. I just thought I’d post an image from a recent shoot for Uniting Care Burnside, for their annual report. The brief was to capture the connection between a father and child, and represent support.

This image of Top from my Kut ta phet series is going to be auctioned at a charity event for Life Force Cancer Foundation (www.lifeforce.com.au/stills.html), at Stills Gallery in Paddington. The event will be held on 18 October from 2-5pm. Opera singer, Dominica Matthews, will perform. Jeanne Bastos, Emanuel Lieberfreund and Nick Dowling will provide Brazillian jazz music. TravelTech Conference 09

Today I photographed the TravelTech conference at Dockside, Darling Harbour. I’ve been photographing the conferences for a few years now for Martin Kelly of Travel Trends. This year Lonely Planet won the inaugural TravelTech Web Awards, for their outstanding website.
Sarah Ouellette, Regional Director Client Solutions, Lonely Planet, is receiving her award from Sari Vahakoski, Managing Director, Amadeus IT Pacific.

Tonight at the opening of the Blake Prize, I ran into Maggie again. I hadn’t seen her since I made this photo of her with Martin Sharp. The image was chosen as part of the City of Sydney’s Art & About photography exhibition in Hyde Park in 2007.
My friend and painter, Viruch Pikuntod, and another photographer friend, Ben Ali Ong, were chosen for the Blake Prize. A well deserved honour for both. Keep an eye out for these great talents and wonderful souls!
Photos Can Make A Difference

In 2006, I travelled to a small village in Thailand with my good friend, Viruch Pikuntod. While I was there, I photographed the local school children, many of whom had never had a photo taken before. Tragically, this little boy died less than a year later. This was the only photo his family had of him. I knew when I was making the photos that it was a great thing to do for the families, but when I heard of this child’s death, it really drove home how photography can be of such great value, and how photographers can use their talents to really make a difference for the people they photograph.
On my next visit to Kut ta phet, I went to two more schools to make photos of the children. It cost me nothing, and gave me so much joy.
