Glenn McGrath at Sydney Airport

Posted in Stories Behind Photos on May 21, 2010 by chrisgleisner

Wednesday night I was out at Sydney International airport photographing an Ahmadiyya cricket team for a new personal project on Blacktown. They’re off to play in a tournament overseas. The airport was practically empty, and Glenn McGrath walks past. Needless to say, the team was pretty excited, and I was there to capture the moment on camera! They took it as a good sign for the tournament ahead.

The Story of Bungaree

Yesterday I photographed the book launch for The Story of Bungaree at The Gunner’s Barracks in Mosman. The book was published by the Harbour Trust. Above is a photo of decendants of both Bungaree (Uncle Bob) and  Governor Macquarie’s sister  (Michelle – and I’m sorry I have forgotten her surname).

The Governor of NSW, Marie Bashir, launched the book, and as usual, gave a very nice speech. I’ve photographed her several times and I’m always impressed with her.

Tim Cahill Gala Dinner

Last night I photographed a gala dinner hosted by the NSW Cancer Council for the Tim Cahill Cancer Fund for Children. A lovely night for a great cause. Some of Tim’s fans would be very jealous that I got to photograph him all night. He seems like a very nice guy. 🙂

Peter Solness’ Night Garden Exhibition is on at Centennial Parklands until 5 June 10, as part of the Head On Photo Festival. As an organiser for the festival, I was responsible for coordinating this event, as well as the other events at Centennial Park. These imagaes are from the Opening drinks and talk at the Superintendent’s Residence last night. For more info on the festival, go to and for info about the park.

Annual Report

Uniting Care_photo_chrisgleisner_oct09_030I’ve been so busy with work, I’ve neglected my new blog. I just thought I’d post an image from a recent shoot for Uniting Care Burnside, for their annual report. The brief was to capture the connection between a father and child, and represent support.

Rainbow-Street-23-Sept-09-Dust-storm-at-dawn-photo-by-Chris-Gleisner-(5)_1This photo was taken at sunrise this morning. A sea of red covered eveything. Quite bizarre. If you were awake at this time, you know what I mean! 🙂
